An effort to require panic buttons for hotel workers across California never made it through the Capitol.
However, panic buttons are required in some parts of Northern California.
Sacramento County supervisors were the first in the state to require the buttons in hotels with 25 or more rooms. In Placer County, one hotel is finding they are helping in ways they didn't imagine.
